This is a Great Inspector Erlendur book that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end. I could not put it down once I started reading.
This book pointed out some interesting facts about Icelandic perceptions of how the world works and how the actions of the U. S.. appears to them.
Arnaldur Indridason has created a set of complex and compelling characters in his series of books about Inspector Erlendur. This book takes you back to the start of his career and his enduring fascination with the lost and forgotten people of Iceland.
Indridason does it again. Great read rolling back to the early years of the main characters, pulling in the racial tensions of the USA and the relationship between Icelanders and the US base outside of Reykjavik while trying to solve a cold case at the same time unraveling the death of a native Icelander that worked on the US base.
I love Indridason's novels. You feel the emotions of the characters and see their humanity we can all recognize. The plot twists and turns keeps me wondering up to the end. I love to learn more about Inspector Erlendur and his background every time I read one of these books.
I have read every inspector Erlander book. Arnaldur Indridason makes you feel that you are right there in Iceland with the inspector on his latest case. My sister in law who does not read fiction books got hooked on Indridason after reading Jar City. This latest book really brings home how cold Iceland is.
I like mysteries that have relevant parts or solutions that involve past events — the interplay of past events-as fragmentary facts-revealing how we are all connected in time. Past and present fighting for narrative dominance. Next up Reykjavík Nights, also by Arnaldur Indridason.
